A Fresh Start for Noel
When Noel arrived at Abbott House, he was at a pivotal
moment in his life. He was struggling in school, frequently
absent, and eventually got caught up with the "wrong
crowd," pressures that only deepened the instability he
faced at home. Noel knew something had to change—and
he was ready to do the work.
At our Group Home in Sullivan County, NY, Noel found
safety, structure, and people like his Social Worker Tasheka
Smith, who believed in his potential. With access to
counseling, educational and clinical support, life-skills
training, and consistent mentorship, Noel began rebuilding
his confidence—and envisioning a future for himself.
He returned to school with renewed determination,
improved his attendance and grades, and even earned a
place on the Honor Roll—an accomplishment he once
thought was impossible. Today, Noel is a high school senior
focused on graduating.
With the support of his care team, Noel also earned his
learner’s permit, completed a summer youth employment
program, and secured steady employment—all while
strengthening relationships with his family.
Most importantly, Noel learned that his past does not define
his future. Now preparing for independent living and
awaiting his own apartment, he is stepping into the next
chapter of his life with pride and purpose.
