The Bee Project
The Bee Project
Inspired by Abbott House’s Flower to Hive initiative, The Bee Project
exhibit features artwork by children and teens in our Therapeutic
Residential Care (TRC), Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC), Group Homes,
adults with different abilities in our Westchester DayHab program,
Abbott House teachers, staff and volunteers. Our artists - young and
old - explored themes of nature, cooperation, and growth—mirroring
the lessons learned in the beekeeping program. Also on display is a
piece by contributing artist Matt Willey, who shared his journey to
create “The Good of the Hive,” his global project to hand-paint 50,000
honey bees in murals around the world.
Special thanks to teaching artist Robyn
Ellenbogen for spearheading the exhibit,
and to all our Abbott House volunteers
who helped our Development Team
bring The Bee Project to life: Gregory
Bissonette, Sarah and Kurt Coble, Lori
Cohen, Lauren Wendle, Matt Willey, and
