Programs and Services for Adults
with Different Abilities
People with different abilities often have capacities and strengths that
are overlooked in environments where “management” of care
overshadows growth. Their path to self-discovery and independence
may be hindered, unwittingly, by well-meaning caregivers. At Abbott
House, we encourage people with different abilities to take an active
role in achieving their life’s potential.
After months of meaningful input from dedicated staff and individuals in our
care, Abbott House introduced a new name for our Services for People with
Developmental Disabilities (SPDD) Program.
The SPDD Program is now the BRIDGE Program. BRIDGE is an acronym for
Building Resources, Inclusion, Development, and Growth for Everyone.
This change reflects our shared vision for comprehensive, person‑centered
support that meets people where they are and helps them move forward - a
name that captures this collaborative spirit!
In partnership with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)
Abbott House provides care and services to adult individuals with intellectual or
developmental disabilities. We operate 16 Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs)
that these individuals call home, located throughout Westchester, Rockland, and the
Bronx. We also offer three community-based day-habilitation programs that provide
enriching opportunities that foster a true sense of belonging.
In 2025, 107 individuals with different
abilities in the BRIDGE Program received 24/7
care, support, and services through IRAs in
Westchester, Rockland and the Bronx.
